The Opportunity

This position is based in Mississauga in Abbott’s Diabetes Care division where are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better informed decisions. We are revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely management financial reports.
  • Participate in the financial planning processes (Annual Plans/Budgets, Quarterly LBEs).
  • Provide financial support to commercial teams.
  • Support different projects and implementation.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close

Key Responsibilities

  • Budget and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with department heads to gather necessary financial data and assumptions.
    • Develop detailed budget templates and guidance for departmental use.
    • Conduct thorough reviews of departmental budget submission for accuracy and completeness.
    • Provide variance analysis to identify significant deviations from the budget.
  • Expense Management:
    • Review and approves invoices, purchase requisitions in ARIBA.
  • Budget Tracking:
    • Track actuals against the budget and provide variance analysis using advance excel functions and pivot tables.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis reports and present findings to management.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and ensure data integrity.
  • Communicate financial results and insights to non-financial stakeholders using clear and concise language.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies through regular audits.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • CPA an asset
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, Vlookup, etc.) and financial applications i.e., Hyperion.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Excellent communications skills, written and spoken.
  • Receptive to change and a team player.
  • Ability to prioritize and to meet strict deadline requirements.
