Mott MacDonald serves both public and private-sector utilities and various municipalities in the State of New Jersey, and has earned sustained assignments from many clients. Our staff throughout the United States has extensive experience in all aspects of civil and municipal engineering.

 

Our Philadelphia, PA  office and Southern New Jersey team is seeking an engineer to support our water and municipal group on existing projects and growth in Northeast Region. Come join our team, work and collaborate with a group of professional engineers to improve the infrastructure of the surrounding communities.  

 

The ideal candidate will be able to execute on existing projects and have a growth mindset. As an entry-level engineer working with our growing water and wastewater design team, your responsibilities may include: 


•    Plan, investigate, and perform field work activities to determine feasibility of options and to complete design activities;
•    Perform detailed design related to the various projects encountered as a municipal engineer including but not limited to roadways, storm sewer systems, sanitary sewer systems, water systems, beach renourishment, dredging, bulkheads, piers, coastal resilience, parks and playgrounds, and planning/zoning board reviews;
•    Prepare and develop engineering drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables.
•    Develop engineering project cost estimates;
•    Assist during construction to serve as the lead project engineer responsible for review of shop drawings, RFIs, and design clarifications;
•    Assist and lead permitting activities with local and state regulatory agencies;
•    Attend project meetings, prepare agendas, and meeting minutes;
•    Coordinate and work with various disciplines in the execution of the work;  
•    Work closely with project managers and senior design engineers in review of work and coordination in the execution of designs.  


Candidate Specification :
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:
•    Bachelor of Science degree in civil, environmental, or a related engineering discipline; 
•    Experience in design, bidding, and construction phase services for water and/or wastewater systems; 
•    Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
•    High motivation and passion to provide exceptional client service; 
•    Knowledge/familiarity with AutoCad/Civil3D   
•    Methodical approach to problem solving.
•     Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
•    Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
