About the Job



70% Research:
* Conduct cloning and validation of genes for engineering T-cells to target cancer using animal models to support a fast-paced laboratory. Utilize provided written protocols and guidance received from the PI and other senior researchers in the lab.
* Employ various experimental techniques including growing primary and immortalized mouse and human T-cell lines.
* Use various software to analyze results using learned data analysis techniques.
* Complete functional analysis of T-cell responses.

30% Laboratory Management:
* Assist others in the maintenance of lab strain archives and equipment, data management and analysis, and in the preparation of data for meetings, manuscripts, and grants.
* Work closely with the PI to maintain laboratory regulatory compliance and ensure lab safety. Individual will assist in ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining laboratory logs.

Qualifications



All required qualifications must be documented on application materials
Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
* Proficient record keeping and/or database management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work independently, problem solve, and multi-task.
* Team player, open-minded, and willing to learn.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with tissue culture, cloning and flow cytometry.
* Experience working within a laboratory environment.
* Experience with small animal handling.

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is made up of a community of scholars committed to discovering and disseminating knowledge about the microbial world. The Stromnes laboratory, within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, focuses on advancing the understanding of cancer immunology and immunotherapy, with a particular emphasis on properties of the tumor and the tumor microenvironment that influence antigen-specific T lymphocyte migration and function.
