Director, General Manager, Commerce Delivery

Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of general management or product development experience including product conception as well as launching, building, and growing consumer products.
  • 5 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary teams including Product Management, Product Operations, Program Management, Engineering, and Marketing.
  • Experience managing and developing a team of product managers, program managers, or engineers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in building, implementing, scaling, and managing eCommerce/Omnichannel fulfillment and/or delivery products and technologies
  • Experience and expertise in one or more of the following: multi-sided marketplaces, delivery operations, transportation capacity planning and management and optimization
  • Experience launching and scaling new businesses inside a large, complex organization.
  • Innovative thinker with the ability to grow in ambiguity and collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries, builds relationships, and imports talent and ideas to achieve a broader organizational goal.

About the job

As the Director, General Manager, Commerce Delivery, you are responsible for our local delivery offering. You will write the business plan. A good plan will clearly articulate the market opportunity, proposed business model and financial forecast, as well as envision the initial launch offering. Once a plan has been established, you will lead a small, entrepreneurial group of engineers, product managers and program managers to build and launch the business. You will own the profit and loss (P&L), drive product strategy, and inspire an inclusive and creative leadership team to flawlessly deliver the business plan.

In this role, you will build and lead a diverse team with an inclusive dynamic that attracts talent. You will partner closely with Communications, Go-to-Market, and other internal Google teams to launch and scale the new offering.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Understand the profit and loss levers, business modeling, merchant, user and delivery partner needs, and market dynamics to inform and develop a business plan, compelling outlook and product roadmap for how Google should approach the delivery space in a way that creates value to users, merchant partners, and delivery service providers alike, and differentiates Google as the go-to place for users to shop.
  • Implement, operationalize, and launch products and services that makes it easy for users to find fast delivery options on Google and easy for merchants to fulfill them.
  • Drive alignment and support for the business plan across Commerce, UX, Chrome, Ads, and Geo, and other internal teams.
  • Define and develop direct and indirect business generation strategies that are both complementary and accretive to Google Shopping’s ads business model.
