Position:                Fabrication Shop Foreman - Industrial Construction

Position Overview:

The Fabrication Shop Foreman will manage, plan, organize, and supervise process pipe & misc. metals for fabrication shop operations and assist with skilled trades scopes of work activities. This position is also responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating work of shop employees, subcontractors, and/or vendors.  In addition, this position will manage the schedule delivery, monitor the quality of work performed, and adhere to project budget and safety requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Function as working supervisor while leading and supervising fabrication shop employees to complete work.
  • Oversee and make decisions related to performance of fabrication shop work and review of jobsite needs with project staff for planning, organization, plant layout, equipment, quality control, and workforce utilization.
  • Collaborate with project team leader to schedule and expedite material and equipment deliveries.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor shop employee activities and anyone within shop, support use of tools and work alongside employees and others in shop, as necessary.
  • Validate materials and quantities provided by subcontractors or suppliers, as ordered by project manager.
  • Coordinate shop hold and inspection activities.
  • Review construction documents and coordinate and plan fabrication shop construction ahead of work going in place.
  • Fully comprehend scopes of work per plans and specifications and lead team to complete installation.
  • Collaborate with project team to create schedules and determine sequencing of work. Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule, as required.
  • Collaborate with project team for scheduling and expediting delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Develop fabrication shop work schedules and delegate assignments to crew.
  • Oversee work among assigned trade teams to promote coordinated project operations.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to communicate and verify their understanding of their scope of work and work implementation plan and monitor their work progress.
  • Manage contracted work to ensure compliance and conformity of installation with approved contract documents.
  • Investigate and document resolution of issues within assigned scope of work.
  • Collaborate closely with Superintendent to resolve local area problems related to procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor, equipment schedule, and other related matters.
  • Review, complete, and submit as required daily documentation for time sheets, production sheets, extra work tickets and safety paperwork.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality Control teams for overall site safety and quality programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience required and minimum of 1 year of foreman, team lead, or supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to lead, delegate, engage with and motivate teams.
  • Strong planning and analysis skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule to execute work activities.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills with ability to apply active listening skills and engage with all levels of teams, clients, business partners, and management.
  • Proficient knowledge of Environmental Health Safety (EH&S) processes and regulations
  • Ability to develop team members and deliver performance feedback.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time for required tasks.
  • Use of respirator if duties require it.
  • Occasional exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
  • Potential or periodic amounts of time spent sitting, stooping, crawling, standing and kneeling. 
  • If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability will be required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
