Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services ,the Assistant Director for Training provides overall coordination, oversight, and administration of CPS’ mental health graduate training programs. These programs include a post-graduate fellowship, a pre-doctoral psychology externship, a mental health counseling/social work internship, and a psychiatric residency rotation.

Additionally, the Assistant Director for Training provides a range of mental health services to the Fordham community, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultations, clinical supervision, outreach interventions, and assessments and evaluations.
Essential Functions
Provides direct clinical services, including initial screening assessments, crisis intervention, and individual and group psychotherapy/counseling to a diverse undergraduate and graduate student population.

Coordinates and oversees recruitment, orientation and personnel records for pre-doctoral externs, post-graduate fellows, psychiatric residents, and mental health counseling/social work interns.

Develops and delivers training curricula for post-graduate fellowship, pre-doctoral externship, and social work/mental health counseling internship programs.

Provides clinical supervision to pre-doctoral externs, post-graduate fellows, psychiatric residents, and mental health counseling/social work interns.

Communicates and consults with directors of clinical training and psychiatric residency programs in the NYC metropolitan area.

Monitors and ensures compliance with local and national standards and guidelines for graduate training programs in mental health, including NYNJADOT, APPIC, APA, ACA and NASW.

Assists in the planning and delivery of university wide outreach events and programs.

Participates in clinical, multidisciplinary, and administrative team meetings.

Provides consultation to faculty, administrators, families, and community providers about students of concern and campus wide mental health issues.

Additional Functions
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Doctorate in clinical, counseling or school psychology from an APA-accredited program.

Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in New York State.

Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling, group psychotherapy and clinical supervision and training in a mental health setting.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Commitment to providing multicultural counseling and conceptualizing from a psychodynamic framework.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse university community of students, faculty, administrators, and families.

Dedication to learning about, understanding, and supporting the care of students and the vocation of student affairs in the context of Fordham University’s Jesuit tradition.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Starting Salary $75,000
Maximum Starting Salary $85,000
Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
