Emergency Nurse Internship Program – Winter Haven Hospital ER

Have you always wanted to become an ER nurse but didn’t have the ER experience needed? Winter Haven Hospital is offering an ER internship to help you build your foundation to become an ER nurse. We’re looking for experienced RN’s and newly graduated nurses for this program.

Program includes 4 weeks of didactic training including lectureship, classroom training and simulation lab. After you have completed our 4 weeks of didactic training you will have 8 -16 weeks of preceptorship in the emergency department.

There is an hours-based commitment you will sign for the internship program

• Status: Full Time

• Shift: Varies

• Every other weekend requirement

• On Call: No

• Always in person

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License

• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing

• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

• PALS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards

• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team

• Organizes and prioritizes and updates plan of care in collaboration with patients, family and significant others

• Identifies patients at risk for injury regarding diagnosis, medication, procedure, age, etc., and prepares room environment

• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.

• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients

• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient

• Professional accountability and development
