Job Description

AUTOMATION RESEARCH ENGINEER, Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research, to support automation instrumentation and high throughput approaches in the High Throughput Sciences Core Facility. Responsibilities will include hands-on operation and maintenance of the facility’s automated liquid handling and readout systems, laboratory information management system (LIMS), and database management; training researchers in the use of automation and data systems and management of laboratory resources, including curation of small molecule, functional genomic and materials-based/nanoparticle libraries.   

The High Throughput Sciences Core Facility provides the MIT community with tools and expertise to design highly specialized experiments; researchers from KI-affiliated labs will work with the automation engineer and core director in a collaborative manner.  There is a rich tradition of collaboration at the KI and many transformative projects have been enabled by the High Throughput Sciences Core Facility.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or biology; at least four years of experience in an academic or industry research environment; laboratory automation and screening experience; data management and/or processing experience; ability to learn new skills and teach others; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and demonstrated experience working in a team-oriented environment.   Seek a detail-oriented team player who is eager to learn and apply new skills and be involved in opportunities to innovate.  PREFERRED: experience with high content screening and compound or other library management.  Job #22481
