Your Role and Responsibilities
This is an opportunity for you to help IBM and university stakeholders (universities, faculty, students) succeed in Data & AI space.
As a Data Scientist on the Academic Initiatives and Workforce Social Impact team, you will:
- Design and develop learning experiences to effectively drive adoption of IBM technologies at universities and broader learner eco-system.
- Deliver classes and conduct office hours to train faculty and students.
- Capture best practices for ML, Data/AI technologies, create documentation like articles, tutorials, and hands-on workshops & demos.
- Demonstrate your passion to understand and learn new technologies, to innovate and improve quality of service.
- Assist university stakeholders in defining, designing, implementing and deploying watsonx machine learning technologies.
- Participate in engagements with universities and non-profit partners.
- Enable stakeholders on IBM’s Data/AI technologies, products.
- Effectively lead projects with multiple technical teams and external stakeholders across geographies
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 3 Years of experience in AI engineering or related roles, with a strong focus on machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, along with experience with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Experience in or knowledge of generative AI using LLMs, proprietary or opensource.
- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and statistical modeling techniques.
- Experience in using container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes to deploy and manage machine learning models in production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Ability to integrate MLOps pipelines with CI/CD tools for continuous integration and deployment.
- Strong expertise in educational technologies and instructional design methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience delivering engaging training classes and office hours
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- 3+ years of experience in Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
- Expertise with libraries such as transformers and langchain.
- Experience with deep learning models using Keras
- Deep Understanding of Statistical Machine Learning Models with Python or R
- Experience with Watson Studio and IBM AI API
- Understanding of data science open source technologies including Python, Jupyter notebooks, TensorFlow, and Spark
- Big Data Certifications on Cloudera/Hortonworks/AWS/GCP/Azure
- Experience with AI Fairness 360 toolkit and/or Watson OpenScale
- Experience with IBM software solutions across multi-cloud platforms Pak for Data
- Experience in Data and AI offerings on Public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google etc.)
- Experience with Databases and Data engineering
- Experience working with faculty and/or researchers in academia
- Experience developing engaging hands-on exercises and demos to engage students and developers
