    UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for multiple CUSTODIAN positions.

    WORK SCHEDULE
  • 32 hours per week, Evening shift, 7:00pm-11:30pm - Rotating every other weekend, holiday commitments.

    POSITION HIGHTLIGHTS
    The Custodian perform routine Waste Management duties to maintain the Medical Center environment in a safe, sanitary, and orderly manner.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Checks and replaces all sharps and chemotherapy waste containers in soiled utility room and other areas as required. 
  • Picks up and replaces all municipal, regulated medical waste and soiled linen carts on the units.
  • Provide cleanup of blood borne pathogen, chemical spill according to procedure.
  • Operate the paper compactor machine. Provide service for all recycling materials, including HIPPA papers, cardboard, mixed plastics, and compostable materials.
  • Operate cardboard baler machine, change cardboard bale as needed.
  • Operate sterilizer machine, process regulated medical waste in sterilizer machine, perform biological indicator spore test and steam chemical integrator for sterilization assurance.
  • Dispose treated sharp waste to designated sharp dumpster for proper disposal.
  • Provide service for RCRA and trace chemotherapy waste chemotherapy on designated areas, ship RCRA and trace chemo waste according to policy and procedures.
  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, personal protective apparel, supplies, and equipment. Respond to hospital overhead codes appropriately.
  • Keep work area and Waste Management dock clean and organized.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
    Physical ability to do required work.
