The Academic Advisor I position is responsible for providing academic advising to a diverse population of undergraduate students at UW Bothell. In this position, the advisor counsels students on academic policies, course planning, and application requirements for many majors at UW Bothell. The position is also responsible for assisting students in making identity conscious and values based informed decisions concerning personal, educational, and professional goals. This includes guiding and motivating students to identify and overcome obstacles that may be impeding academic success. The Academic Advisor I joins a team of advisors who each carry a specific caseload, and will be integrated into a community of advisors throughout the University of Washington Bothell to stay informed of institutional policies and standards of practice. The advisor must maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff to ensure effective communication and address student and institutional trends as they emerge. Communication with the University Registrar and Admissions offices is necessary to update, review, and submit Degree Audit, transcript, and graduation records. This position also requires the advisor to support school-based efforts to retain and engage students.
