Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Senior Project Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan
Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer at our Dearborn Works facility in Dearborn, Michigan. The Senior Electrical Project Engineer should be effective, organized, and team-oriented in order to manage capital projects from initial scope development, through project implementation, commissioning and start-up while following the Cleveland-Cliffs’ safety, environmental and quality standards.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Fulfill the Health and Safety and Environmental responsibilities as defined in Cleveland-Cliffs corporate policies
Works with plant organizations to identify and resolve operational issues
Develop and prepare capital appropriations for submittal including establishing project cost savings, reviewing inspection reports and prioritizing repairs, developing detailed scopes of work, detailed cost estimates and supervising contractors in the project implementation
Execute projects from inception through implementation, start-up and closing
Maintain and track project budget and schedule and effectively communicating to management on a regular basis ensuring that the projects come in “on budget” and are completed “on time” while delivering project objectives
Determine the necessary resources needed (engineering firm, field services, material expediting, etc.) to accomplish the intent of the project and schedule as needed
Execute small projects, inspections, analytics, and diagnostics which help improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of the facility in addition to capital projects
Participate as a member of cross-functional teams in the implementation of major Capital projects and facility rehabilitations including Operations and Maintenance at the host department
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
At least 10 years of project-related experience within manufacturing
Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
Possess a continuous improvement mindset
Ability to work with all levels at the plant
Genuine team approach to problem solving
Experience with all types of motor control systems. D.C. motors, MG Set Controls, SCR Control, A.C. VFD, etc.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Working knowledge of MS Office especially Excel, PowerPoint and Project
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of process, maintenance and production facilities
Project-related experience within a steel mill
PLC design, programming, installation and troubleshooting experience
