Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented and experienced Digital Solutions Specialist to join our digital practice areas within US. You will play a crucial role in translating business requirements into technical solutions, advising on data strategies, designing and overseeing the implementation of complex systems, and ensuring alignment between business goals and technology strategies. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including business leaders, developers, and project managers, to deliver innovative and scalable solutions to produce delightful client experiences.

The Digital Solutions Specialist will report directly to the Digital Director, Enterprise Capabilities for North America. This is a client-facing role, with the opportunity to work with other digital leaders and client advocates across each of the firm’s business verticals.

This position will be remote. Travel up to 30% may be required.

About Digital @ AECOM

As a member of the global Enterprise Capabilities team, you will work with leaders from around the world to define and engrain our digital services, to share best practices, to leverage global capabilities, and to support North America opportunities and projects. While services and solution management are set globally, they will be tailored for implementation within the regions, individual business line verticals, and for each client.

This role will work closely with regional and global digital leadership to build and expand the impact of our growing team of digital professionals in infrastructure markets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client & Business Engagement
  • Lead the development of detailed scopes of work, technical approaches, and fee proposals – act as a steward between cross-functional teams to facilitate development of integrated solutions and inform technology selection while maintaining a bias towards the client experience.

  • Collaborate with domain experts to translate highly complex and robust digital solutions into vernacular and domain specifics that resonate across domains, leadership levels, and client stakeholders.

  • Effectively communicate (e.g. via verbal and written communication, rapid prototypes, architecture diagrams, process workflows) solution concepts, use cases, data flows, implementation approach, and alternatives to drive alignment between business stakeholders and technical teams.

  1. Project Technical Solutioning & Data Advisory
  • Play a critical role in early client conversations to provide analysis and recommendations for technology/data solutions, based on both technical requirements and project attributes (e.g., scale of project/client, cost vs. ROI, support models, resource capabilities, etc.).

  • Design end-to-end digital and data management solutions that are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.

  • For existing programs and longer-term projects, provide guidance to teams to help introduce efficiencies – evaluate systems, technologies, and data flows to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for optimization.

  1. Technical Resourcing Strategy
  • Advise on project resourcing strategies by mapping digital solution requirements to resource types and working with delivery partners to identify best-in-class resources for implementation/execution.

  • Champion global workshare by developing and nurturing a broad internal technical network to keep a pulse on current capabilities of both localized (North America) and global technical resources.

  • Assess internal capabilities and depth of bench relative to market/demand to proactively identify skill gaps to highlight to senior leadership.

  1. Quality Through Delivery
  • Engage as required throughout end solution implementation to ensure data integrity, performance, quality, and conformance with business stakeholders’ and clients’ needs.

  • For select critical projects, serve in direct delivery roles to provide technical leadership, project management, advisement, and solutioning.

  • Design, implement, and oversee quality assurance and control processes, ensuring high standards for all deliverables.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years’ experience in digital project and solution delivery in a consulting environment, in digital strategist, digital technologist, solutions architect, or similar roles, with a track record of designing, implementing, and integrating complex systems and applications.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable with a variety of client presentation and workshop formats.

  • Extensive experience developing scopes of work and fee proposals and documenting technical approaches in a consulting environment.

  • Adept at articulating conceptual architecture and data flows in a project and pre-sales environment, and explain options and tradeoffs between COTS, low-code, and custom development to realize a client’s business objectives.

  • Deep understanding of concepts related to data management, data security, data integrity, data governance, interoperability; knowledge of scalable data pipelines and application of ETL and ELT concepts.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in an architectural, engineering, and/or construction consulting services environment.

  • Experience and working domain knowledge in the infrastructure services industry.

  • Experience contributing to data/application architecture & designs, proven software/enterprise integration design patterns and full-stack knowledge including modern distributed front end and back-end technology stacks.

  • Experience in conceptual design tools like Figma or Adobe XD.

  • Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect.

  • Experience in microservices and API design and implementation, familiar with service-oriented architectures, SOAP and RESTful APIs.

  • Strong knowledge of low code database, app development, automation, and business intelligence platforms within the Microsoft Power Platform.

  • Proficiency in architecting solutions on cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience in program and project management technology toolsets and information systems (Microsoft, Oracle, InEight, Unifier, Smartsheet).

  • Familiarity with applications of AI, machine learning, and low-code packaged AI solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills with an ability to inspire and motivate team members, provide guidance and mentorship, and foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Maintain a customer-centric mindset, demonstrating empathy towards customer needs and preferences to create solutions that deliver value and enhance user experience and satisfaction.

  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying atop evolving AEC industry trends, emerging tech, and best practices in solution architecture and data engineering.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $149,000.00.
