Job Description

The Construction Manager/Planner provides field construction management services to include technical support, project planning, cost estimation, change management, scheduling input, overall construction execution, maintenance services, capital project installation, project completion turnover packages, and off-hours emergency coverage.
• Job related and strong technical knowledge or background necessary to complete the job in one or more of the following construction industry categories.
• Industrial Electrical Systems Knowledge (600v and Less) in manufacturing and process plants. Including but not limited to: Medium and Low Voltage, Network Data, Fiberoptics Equipment and Panel Controls, Fire Alarm & Security Systems, Etc.
• Industrial Mechanical Systems and Knowledge in manufacturing and process plants. Including but not limited to: Setting Large Packing Equipment, Tanks, Conveyors, Crane and Rigging Operations, Minor Structural Steel Setting/Modifications. Manual Rigging Operations, Packing Line Equipment Change Outs, etc.
• Manufacturing and Facility Maintenance. Including but not limited to: Pump and motor changes, office remodels, heat trace install/repairs, dock door equipment repairs, roof repairs, manufacturing plant major utilities troubleshooting and repairs, tank lining, etc.
The Construction Manager/Planner will be the primary liaison between the client, contractors, and engineering. They are responsible for executing all work on schedule and within budget

The Construction Manager/Planner will drive safety, cost, schedule control, quality assurance, providing information to finance, input to contracts administration, material management, construction completion and turnover.
• Work with the client Project Manager to develop overall project sourcing plans and execution strategies.
• Assist with Project Kick-Offs & Collaborative Design Sessions as required.
• Participate in project design review meetings with the client, design engineers and construction partners to provide cost savings, drive out waste and streamline efficiency during all phases of the project.
• Provide front end construction estimates to the client Project Managers for project budget funding and/or evaluate contractor proposals for accuracy utilizing past experiences or with historical cost data that would be available.
• Work with the project team to develop a master schedule and daily/hourly schedules if the project calls for it.
• Verify construction execution cost estimates from final project engineering packages:
• This may include working with trade partners to establish scope and associated costs
• Create scope of work packages for contractors who are executing the work with supporting data and scope details.

Organize and Conduct:
• Pre-Bid & Bid-Award Meetings
• Project Execution Meetings
• Technically evaluate quotes and bids from contractors and suppliers with Procurement, Project Controls, PM/Tech and Auditing personnel.
• Support in developing the Project Specific QA/QC Plan and verify on-going monitoring and completion.
• Provide construction interface with plant personnel/stakeholders to develop downtimes and construction work areas for project execution
• Monitor the safety, scope, quality, and timing of construction field execution.
• Provide any applicable updates required for regular project reports.
• Lead and support project teams in the identification of changes in scope or unexpected field conditions and ensuring proper change management is supported and followed.
• Document all scope changes on a change order prior to the work being performed
• Once work is completed, initiate project closeout requests of all applicable scopes & contracts.
• Develop construction turn over (CTO) packages.
• Prepare and track punch list and/or exception list to ensure the readiness of system for release or turnover to the client for start-up.
• Participate in Project Closing Debriefs with Client & Trade Partners if requested/required.
• Ensure that acceptance criteria is completed prior to turning project deliverables over to the client
• Support the sites Innovation Culture in collaboration with all other functional site leads (IC&M/Procurement/Project Controls/Safety/Operations).
• Support driving our Innovation Culture in the field through observation / feedback programs with craft
• Promote the importance of safety.
• Monitor the work in the field. Make frequent daily walks in the field to review, monitor, and evaluate progress, performance, quality and compliance to the site safety rules, specific requirements, and procedures.
• Maintain a good set of project files and keep all documentation stored with-in the sites established document control process.
• Adhere to site security policies.
• Adhere to site standards and policies.

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and two (2) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Construction Management degree or global equivalent
• Typically has three (3) years of project experience
• Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic use of spreadsheets

Salary Range

61,500 to 104,500

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
