Job Description

The Communications Specialist III coordinates more complex communications projects/initiatives, performs communications program administration, and assists in developing and implementing internal and/or external communication activities in support of business objectives and strategies.

• Assist in developing and implementing communications programs that are measurable and help achieve business goals
• Engage in regular dialogue with internal stakeholders to maintain an understanding of the current communications environment, challenges, and support requirements
• Advise leadership and provide coaching on internal and external communication issues and challenges
• Help ensure proper and consistent messaging is delivered both internally and externally
• Lead creative development, writing, proofreading and editing for a wide variety of communications vehicles and presentation materials
• Evaluate and measure continually the effectiveness of communications channels and recommend opportunities for improvement
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to nine (9) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements

• Participate in Fluor University
• Contribute to and promote the use of Fluor’s knowledge management portals and communities

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Masters) or global equivalent is a plus
• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading and oral presentation skills
• Knowledge of global company communications procedures and programs
• Understanding of key business financials and business strategies
• Ability to think and plan strategically
• Team player
• Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels inside and outside the organization in fluid situations
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Working knowledge of technology-based communications (internet/intranet, social media and other vehicles and their use as part of a strategic communication plan)
• Proven efficiency in project and time management – self-starter with ability to manage own workload
• Ability to produce consistently high quality work under tight deadlines
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to remain positive and calm under pressure

Salary Range

68,000 to 118,000

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
