Position Description

The Alumni Marketing & Communications team is in search of a Direct Marketing Manager for the Development Communications team. Reporting to the associate director of Development Communications, the direct marketing manager serves as the project manager for all direct marketing appeal campaigns to HBS alumni. They work with the associate director and director of Development Communications to translate the overall integrated marketing strategy into an action plan each fiscal year with corresponding deliverables and deadlines. This involves assisting in the planning, preparation, and fulfillment of both print and email solicitations, and serving as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders and partners regarding day-to-day appeal strategy and execution questions. This role is responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS required
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience in marketing and communications and/or fundraising/development experience is required

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven, high-level project management experience, including the ability to manage work involving multiple stakeholders from various departments
  • Solid knowledge of annual giving and experience with direct marketing (mail, email, and social media) strategy, execution, and analytics
  • Must be a team player and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess superb attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and balance priorities with ease
  • Computer skills: Excel and Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience required; familiarity with Advance or other alumni database platforms, social media platforms, Workfront, and Adobe suite preferred

Additional Information

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
